The Story of Once Upon a Storybook

We believe that "Stories inspire and books make memories" - hearing a story captures the imagination of children (young and once young), and sharing time together over a special books creates memories that last a lifetime.  Our founder, Susie Alexander, had a dream to create that special place where children learn to love reading, and they can share it with parents, grandparents, and all those who shape their development.  From the beginning it was important to Susie that kids feel welcome - from the cubbies they can curl up in with their books, to the train table, and craft room - it's all here for them to explore, learn, and love.

It was also important to Susie that parents, grandparents, and all those "once young" could find both their favorite books to pass on to the next generation as well as learn about the best of the newest books available.  Because of Susie's experience as an educator and passion for learning, she determined from the beginning that educators would feel especially welcomed at her store.

As she told people about her vision, Susie would often say, "There will be no dull days at Once Upon a Storybook."  And so it is true, with storytimes, holiday crafts, listening dogs, and author signings, she continues to find fun in world of storybooks.

With her passion, some experience at Barnes & Noble, advice from experts, help from friends, and the guidance of prayer, her dream became a plan and then a reality.  We are grateful to God for the opportunity to welcome you to our store ... so come see us!
